La Fière Bridge

Crucial crossing over the Merderet River defended by the 82nd Airborne. Intense fighting secured the bridge, preventing German reinforcements from reaching Utah Beach in the days following the landings.

Sainte-Mère-Église

One of the first towns liberated on D-Day by American paratroopers. Paratrooper John Steele famously caught his parachute on the church steeple and played dead as the battle raged.

Beuzeville-au-Plain

Near Beuzeville-au-Plain, Easy Company's commander, 1st Lt. Thomas Meehan III, was killed when his C-47 was shot down before the D-Day drop, a tragedy that unexpectedly placed Richard Winters in command.

Atlantic Wall - Wn8

German defensive strongpoint (Widerstandsnest 8) forming part of the Atlantic Wall at Utah Beach. On June 6, 1944, it was equipped with machine guns, artillery positions, and concrete bunkers intended to repel the American landings.

Utah Beach

The westernmost Allied landing beach where U.S. forces came ashore on June 6, 1944. Despite strong currents, the landings succeeded with light casualties, marking the first foothold in Normandy.

Brécourt Manor Assault

Site of a German artillery battery attacking Utah Beach, where U.S. paratroopers of Easy Company, 506th PIR, destroyed the guns in a famous small-unit assault.

Sainte-Marie-du-Mont

Sainte-Marie-du-Mont became a key objective on D-Day as American paratroopers of the 101st Airborne secured the village and linked up with troops advancing inland from Utah Beach, opening one of the Allies' vital routes off the invasion beaches.

Angoville-au-Plain

A tiny church turned field hospital where two medics from the 101st Airborne treated both American and German wounded. Bloodstains still mark the pews inside the peaceful village church.

Saint-Côme-du-Mont

Standing astride the road to Carentan, Saint-Côme-du-Mont was a key objective for the 101st Airborne. Determined German resistance turned the town into one of the fiercest battlegrounds in the days after D-Day.

Carentan

Key town between Utah and Omaha Beaches, captured by U.S. paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division to link the American beachheads during intense fighting.

German Cemetery

La Cambe is the final resting place for over 21,000 German soldiers. The dark basalt cross and circular mound contrast sharply with the white crosses of Allied cemeteries nearby.

Pointe du Hoc

Sheer cliffs scaled by U.S. Rangers to destroy German gun batteries threatening Utah and Omaha Beaches. The bomb-scarred landscape still shows the ferocity of the Allied bombardment.

Omaha Beach – D1 Exit

Scene of the fiercest fighting on D-Day. Soldiers of the 29th Division faced deadly fire from German bunkers as they struggled ashore under constant artillery and machine-gun fire.

Omaha Beach – E1 Exit

Another key sector of Omaha, where the 1st Infantry Division fought to breach German defenses. The cliffs above still bear traces of the fortified positions that dominated the landing zone.

American Cemetery

Overlooking Omaha Beach, this cemetery holds more than 9,000 American graves. The white marble crosses and Stars of David stretch in perfect symmetry, honoring those who fell for freedom.

Omaha Beach – F1 Exit

Offering one of the finest views across Omaha Beach today, the F1 Exit once gave German defenders a commanding view of the battlefield below. Protected by the fortifications of Widerstandsnest 60, this draw became a vital objective.

Longues-sur-Mer Battery

A well-preserved German artillery battery between Omaha and Gold. Its four concrete casemates still house original 150mm guns that once fired on Allied ships off the coast of Normandy.

Arromanches Artificial Harbour

At Arromanches, engineers built the Mulberry Harbour — a floating port allowing supplies to reach the beaches. Remnants of the concrete caissons still rise from the waves at low tide.

Gold Beach

British forces landed here, facing strong defenses but quickly breaking through. Inland, they captured Arromanches, paving the way for construction of the massive artificial Mulberry harbour system.

British Normandy Memorial

A tribute to all Allied soldiers who took part in the Normandy campaign. Its granite columns list the names of 22,000 British servicemen who died during the liberation of France.

Juno Beach - Courseulles-sur-Mer

Canadian troops captured this coastal town on D-Day after fierce resistance. Today it’s home to the Juno Beach Centre, a museum commemorating Canada’s contribution to the Normandy landings and campaign.

Canadian Cemetery

Located at Bény-sur-Mer, this cemetery honors more than 2,000 Canadian soldiers who fell during the Normandy campaign. Each headstone tells a story of courage, sacrifice, and youth cut short.

Juno Beach - Bernières-sur-Mer

Landing point for the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada on Juno Beach. The first house liberated in Normandy, still standing today, bears bullet scars from the ferocious D-Day assault.

Sword Beach

Easternmost Allied landing beach, where British and Free French forces came ashore. Within hours they linked with airborne units from Pegasus Bridge, advancing toward Caen under heavy German resistance.

Hillman Strongpoint

A fortified German command post near Colleville-Montgomery. British troops fought bitterly to capture this bunker complex, which coordinated defenses along Sword Beach and delayed progress inland for hours.

Pegasus Bridge

Captured intact by British airborne troops just after midnight on D-Day. The daring glider assault secured the eastern flank, preventing German armor from counterattacking the vulnerable Sword Beach landings.
